Annual Dinner and Prize Presentation

This year's dinner and prize presentation was held at the Holiday Inn on the 22nd February.

Once again this was a shared event with our neighbouring club Horsforth DMC. Following the dinner was the prize presentation, with Horsforth going first, Graham Wilson announcing the winners of their awards. Paul Whitaker doing his usual sterling job, announced the West Leeds winners over the noise of the enthusiastic crowd.

Marylyn Pitts wife of our President and Yorkshire Centre President Dennis Pitts did the honours and presented our awards to the winners.

Each winner announced was heartily applauded by the audience; it seemed that some had fetched their own fan club to cheer them on.

The biggest cheer of the night however was reserved for the last award winner, a special award to our retiring Chairman Malcolm Adams in recognition of his years of service to the club.

The draw of the raffle was eagerly awaited as once again the most valuable item on the prize table was a new rear trials tyre. The first ticket drawn was that of Jean Kershaw who obviously selected the tyre rather than any of the various wines, perfumes etc on display, to what use she is going to put the tyre can only be imagined. Subsequently she had great difficulty keeping hold of it, as several trials riders seemed intent on relieving her of the prize.

After the draw of the raffle the band “Desilva” started in earnest, the loud music sending some members scurrying to the bar, whilst others revelled in the ambience created by the sound.

Special thanks to John and Jean Kershaw for all their efforts in organising the event, obtaining awards and all the work done which organising an event such as this entails.
